What’s new in backupd

Every release, newest first.

Starter and Pro

  • Plans are now Starter, with a 14-day free trial, and Pro, with 50% off the first month for the first 25 customers.
  • Copies to your own bucket are part of Pro.
  • A workspace without a plan stays readable: backups stop, and every existing backup can still be downloaded and restored.
  • New pages for every engine, security, restore tests and pricing.

Restore tests and your own keys

  • Restore tests: backups are restored into a temporary database on a sandbox server and every table is counted.
  • Your own encryption keys in Settings → Encryption, made in the browser or pasted as an age public key.
  • Download encrypted, and a guide to restoring without backupd.
  • Cancel a running backup, and a daily limit on manual backups per database.
  • Schedules run in each database’s time zone, with one catch-up run after downtime.

Four engines

  • Native backups for PostgreSQL 9.2 to 18, MySQL 5.7+ and MariaDB 10.3+, MongoDB 4.2+, and Convex.
  • Backups stream to storage, compressed and encrypted on the way, so a big database needs no spare disk.
  • Every backup is read back and checked after it is stored.
