Extra storage, never a surprise
When you go past your plan’s storage, extra GB are billed on the month’s peak. Set a spending cap in Settings → Billing and new backups pause when you reach it, with an alert first at 80%.

Questions
Your card is charged for Starter when the 14 days end, unless you cancel before then. Cancel in Settings → Billing and you pay nothing.
On the compressed and encrypted size of your backups, never your database’s size. Most databases compress to a fraction of what they take on disk.
Storage beyond your plan’s included amount is billed per GB on the period’s peak. Set a spending cap and backups pause when it is reached, so you are never billed past it.
The workspace becomes read-only: new backups stop, and every backup you already have stays available to download and restore.
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade in Settings → Billing. Limits change with the plan, and Pro features such as copies to your own bucket pause on Starter.
